Case Studies - George And Dragon, Wetherby
Case StudiesMajor Refurbishment.
Client: George And Dragon   Project: Refurbishment.
RDF is undertaking major refurbishment works to the former George and Dragon Public House, High Street, Wetherby. The building is sited just over Wetherby Bridge next to the Wilderness Car Park. Subject to planning permission, it is anticipated that there will be a change of use to 2 retail premises with private dwellings above.
Wetherby is a historic market town which was mentioned in the Doomsday book of 1086 as Wedrebi. The name is thought to derive from wether- or ram-farm or else meaning "settlement on the bend of a river". Local folklore has it that when a heavy snow storms hits the county, Wetherby does not get as much because the Weather Goes By.
The project itself involves a major strip out of all existing fixtures and fittings, changes to the internals of the building, including re-siting of internal walls, floors, utilities as well as bespoke joinery items and decorations.
This is an exciting new venture for RDF and it is being tackled with a great deal of enthusiasm by all involved.
We will upload photo’s from time to time showing the progress!
