ISG lands Imperial College contract

Work will begin on the redevelopment at the end of August and is expected to be completed in October next year.

ISG already boasts a number of high-profile contracts such as work on the London 2012 Velodrome and is also in charge of the design and building of the Rugby Football Union’s new offices.

The first phase of the Imperial College construction will focus on modernising and refurbishing the interior of the building. Afterwards, the second phase will see renowned architect practice Foster & Partners designing the exterior.

Initially ISG will concentrate on the lower three floors of the building. Minor demolition work and complex structural altercations will be undertaken to produce a range of engineering workshops and modern material-testing laboratories.

On the upper five floors of the building, the firm will construct vertical service risers so that the remaining teaching accommodation can be refurbished.
