Jobs boost for building trade

One of the largest pub operators in the country is set to give the construction industry a boost by creating over 2,500 jobs in the next few years.

Marston`s has plans to build new pubs around the country and will start by investing £140 million this summer, creating 60 jobs. Thousands more jobs will be created in the future as construction on the pubs begins.

“There has been much gloom written about the traditional pub market in recent months, much of it overexcited,” said Derek Andrew, managing director of Marston’s Inns and Taverns.

Mr Andrew told a source that the search for the sites for the pubs is now in progress and upon completion, hundreds of jobs would be created in the hospitality sector.

Elsewhere, Network Construction, one of Network Rail`s largest contractors, could create 100 building and construction jobs in Essex should plans for a new headquarters receive the go-ahead, according to Echo News.
