Solihull-based developer Earlplace is to begin work on a major land-swap construction project with Bristol City Council that combines public and commercial properties under the same roof.
The site off Kellaway Avenue in Horfield will include a private-sector care home for old people at the front and a new Concord Lodge for the council at the back.
The latter will provide state-of-the-art assessment and residential facilities for people with complex learning difficulties.
Says Tim Malby Earlplace managing director: “There are very few major projects coming through at the moment because of the economic conditions, but this is a glorious exception.
“We have secured multi-million pound funding through Barclays, have completed a deal with Bristol City Council to create a new centre for them and have signed a long lease with an operator, one of the country’s leading care providers.
“That is good news for every party involved and also for the city of Bristol. Not only will it provide state-of-the-art medical and care services, but will give a boost to the local economy as work is on going.”
