A West Midlands construction company has won the 2009 Building Exchange (BEX) Innovation Competition for its work developing new flooring products and cutting CO2 emissions.
Screedrail Solutions`s innovation was recognised at the BEX event in Hamburg, Germany and other finalists Photon Star LED, Primace Associates, Fire Fly Safety and Nu-Phalt were also given the opportunity to exhibit at the event.
Screedrail, which created products to cut the quantity of materials needed for concrete floors, was the star attraction at the conference organised by UK Trade & Investment, which attracts industry leaders from across the globe.
UK Trade & Investment CEO Sir Andrew Cahn congratulated the winning company and said innovation was vital to the future of the construction sector.
He said: “Screedrail Solutions illustrates the innovative capability of so many small companies in the UK construction industry. It is working at the cutting edge of technology, bringing products to market which represent a significant step forward in building design and performance.”
The Birmingham and Redditch-based already exports products to Australia, New Zealand and the EU, but it is hoped the BEX event will work as a stepping stone to new markets.
