The Project – Canalside Mill Building
The University required the full refurbishment of WC facilities within the grade II listed Canalside building, over six of its floors. The works involved new M&E installations as well as bespoke IPS units, cubicles and Corian topped vanity units.
The facilities needed to partially remain open as the site was still ‘live’ and as such the works needed to be phased with works being completed over differing floors at various times.
The full strip out and replacement of sixteen male and female WCs, along with five DDA WCs, were completed to a precise programme. This concise programming of the works allowed each area to be delivered, signed off and opened up to the students and staff prior to the next phase commencing.
Careful isolation and redirection of all services was completed strictly in adherence with University policy to allow the works to be safely completed whilst ensuring other parts of the building could remain ‘live’.
The project was delivered on time, to budget and met the expected quality levels of the client and end users.
