The Myrtle Tavern in Meanwood has been transformed during a blisteringly fast refurbishment – 21 days from design briefing to serving drinks!

The site has been rejuvenated with a traditional ‘cosy’ vibe that has, due to the locality of the cricket pitch, a minor sport theme infused within the design.

The bespoke corky ball and wicket screens are complemented by the cricket bat balustrade as well as the signed memorabilia that is positioned within the main bar. The clean stonework and oak flooring lead you to the new, ‘old’ back bar with its many tantalising spirits tastefully displayed under the new copper lighting.

New cosy pockets and corners have been created to allow customers to enjoy the space in a way that they could not before.

Following on from the successful completion of Phase 1 at the Grade II Listed Weetwood Hall, RDF were awarded the contract to deliver Phases 2 – 5.

These phases include the creation and construction of a new 120 seat Mediterranean themed restaurant, ‘Convive’, major refurbishment of the existing kitchen & back of house areas, a new bar, new dining area and refurbishment of the existing reception.

The new restaurant, which opens in early February 2017, will be part of the University of Leeds owned Weetwood Hall Estate but will retain an independent identity of it’s own.

Martin Pickles, of Flying Pizza ‘fame’, will be working with Weetwood’s MD and his friend, Martin Hicks, in the daily running and operation of the restaurant.

After an introduction and a successful tender submission. We have been awarded a contract to manufacture, deliver and install replacement timber windows & doors to various properties in York.

The project is within a conservation area and will see the delicate removal of existing timber windows, replacing them with new bespoke energy efficient A* rated alternatives.

Careful planning and a high level of customer care will be implemented, providing a constant source of communication with the residents, adding to another successful social housing scheme.

All the units of the stunning ‘Lawns House‘ re-development have been completed with the new build stone gate house also nearing completion.

The properties ooze many beautiful period features such as decorative cornices, high ceilings and sliding sash windows, that compliment the character of the dominant, Listed building as well as having many modern touches added to assist in making them suitable for modern living. Some of the existing features have been retained in their full glory whereas others needed to be lovingly and painstakingly restored or even added to the units by members of the extremely skilled RDF team. The level of finish both internally and externally is of an exceptionally high standard of quality.

Each unit has a character and ‘feel’ all of it’s own which allows every home owner to have their own individual piece of the magnificent Listed Building.

The final unit that was being converted at the Lawns House Development has been completed and handed over to the new owners.

Large sections of the external stone walls were carefully taken down, catalogued and re-built to increase the internal floor space of the, now vast, two bed roomed, two bath roomed property.

The glazed atrium was fully replaced with the existing timber trusses and decorative paneling being given a new lease of life via LED lighting and a specifically chosen colour scheme. The property was, as with the other units on the development, fully rewired with a new heating system and sanitary ware throughout.

Solid Oak flooring, a multi fuel stove and an anthracite kitchen completed the modern, minimalistic finish that the client hoped to achieve.

RDF Building were one of only two winners at the Regional finals awards ceremony that were entered into the National awards.

As a result of this success the Shire Oak Road scheme is now shortlisted for the National Local Authority Building Control Award within the Restoration and Conversion Excellence Category with the ceremony to be held at the famous Brewery Venue in London on November 11th where we hope to be celebrating success again!

RDF Building Services putting the Finishing Touches to the Prestigious Lawns House Conversion.

RDF Building Services are nearing completion of Lawns House a conversion from commercial offices to domestic use, with a number of the units already sold.

RDF were awarded the Principle Contract because of our works on similar prestigious projects, a fact supported by our recent Local Authority Building Control Award for Construction Excellence in the Conversion and Restoration category.

All works including internal fit our have been managed by the RDF team.

RDF Building wins negotiated tender on listed building redevelopment

RDF Building have successfully won a negotiated tender to complete the redevelopment and delicate conservation of a Grade II Listed Building.

The development, that is already raising interest and offers from prospective purchasers, involves changing the use of the building from its current commercial use back into high end residential dwellings that have been affectionately referred to as ‘Affordable Grandeur’.

The building has many period features that are stunning in both their beauty and detail which is one of the many reasons that the property developer chose to partner with RDF Building, instead of the other tenderers, on this scheme.
